This corner had a few establishments prior to Corner 29, and it housed a lot of great memories. It’s been a while since I’ve been around this area. We heard from other families that the dim sum here continues to play a great roll here on Main Street. We couldn’t find parking in front but we didn’t mind parking a couple blocks away. I highly recommend reservations or you’ll be waiting a long time. It’s a small place and the decor could use some work. But that didn’t discourage us from eating their delicious dim sum. I was quite surprised by their quality on their classic items. Each dish we had is very tasty and the portions are appropriate and appreciated. Everything was hot and fresh to order. I would definitely come back again for breakfast!

I’m genuinely impressed by the dim sum at Corner 29! Every dish we tried was above average in quality, yet the prices were slightly below average—a rare and welcome combination in Vancouver’s dining scene. While the decor is simple and nothing to write home about, the real star here is the food—and it truly delivers. One standout for me was the sponge cake (馬拉糕). So many places these days get it wrong, but Corner 29 absolutely nails it. Light, springy, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweetness—it brought me right back to the flavors I grew up with. Another highlight was the 牛肉刮刮腸 (beef rice rolls). The texture of the rice noodle was silky and smooth, wrapping around the tender beef filling beautifully. It had that fresh, just-steamed feel that makes this dish so comforting and satisfying. Perfectly paired with the light soy sauce drizzle. Kudos to the team for staying true to authentic Cantonese cooking. I’ll definitely be back for another round of yum cha!

If it weren’t for a friend’s recommendation, I probably would’ve never stepped into this restaurant. From the outside, it doesn’t look appealing at all—especially compared to the many newer dim sum spots with stylish interiors and endless menu options. But I’m so glad we gave it a try. We ordered a few dishes our friend suggested: Beef Omasum with Ginger & Scallion, Pan-Fried Bean Sheet Wraps with Vegetables, Steamed Rice Rolls with Wild Mushroom, and Spicy Hot Chili Wontons. Every single item pleasantly surprised us—the ingredients were fresh, nothing felt greasy, and the wontons were especially delicious. This place is a great reminder not to judge a restaurant by its exterior. It may be small and unassuming, but the food truly stands out. It gets busy quickly on weekends, so I recommend arriving early. Also, parking can be a bit tricky—you might need to circle around or park a little farther away on a side street. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a fan of authentic, high-quality dim sum!

The portions are huge for delicious family style dining. The house (seafood) chow mien was delicious. The steamed “three kinds of egg custard” was savory and melted in my mouth in perfect smooth consistency! I’ll be thinking about this custard for days! I will definitely be back with friends and my kids. Next time, I will come for lunch so I can try the dim sum!

This restaurant is relatively small compared to other Chinese restaurants in Richmond. Tried a few dim sum dishes and all were quite good although not very sophisticated. I especially liked their Hand Scraped Rice Rolls with Beef & Cilantro, and also their Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumplings (Har Kow). Service was better than expected. Restaurant environment was a bit noisy.

Had some dimsum lunch at Corner 29 and the service was okay, nothing standout, but the value was good for what we got. I couldn’t point out what my favourite dish was, as everything was good but not great. That said, the food met expectations but didn’t really go beyond what’s already common in Vancouver’s dimsum scene. It gets quite busy, so be prepared for a wait. The atmosphere is pretty basic, not really a place you’d linger more of a get-in-get-out kind of spot. Average cost is about $25 per person, which is fair for the area. Solid for a casual dimsum outing, especially if you’re nearby and don’t mind the bustle.

We decided to make a reservation for a dim sum lunch at Corner 29. It’s a good thing we did as it was during the Saturday lunch rush. We were given a check list and chose the standards. They were all really good. The shrimp dumplings (Ha gow) were plump and juicy. My favorite was the siu mai . The service was fair. Typical of most dim sum houses. The atmosphere was good. If you are in the area Corner 29 is worth checking out.
